U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

As an Art & Accessibility Director, I support multiple offices within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), including the Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation (OPCC&CT), Office of Rural Health (ORH), MyHealtheVet (MHV), Office of Nursing Services (ONS), the Office of Human Resources and Administration/Operations, Security, and Preparedness (HRA/OSP), and the Office of Connected Care (OCC). Each office has its own mission, challenges, and goals, requiring tailored creative strategies that remain within the VA brand umbrella while distinguishing each office through thoughtful design and targeted marketing tactics. My portfolio showcases a selection of this impactful work, highlighting the diverse projects and solutions developed to support these offices' unique objectives.

Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation

The Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation (OPCC&CT) is supported through the development of a wide range of creative and strategic communication materials designed to advance the Whole Health mission. This includes static and animated paid media ads, social media graphics, brand guidelines, event materials such as booth designs and table tents, logomarks, templates, communication plans, out-of-home (OOH) collateral, annual reports, infographics, fact sheets, video production, and more.

These materials aim to promote the principles of Whole Health, empowering Veterans and healthcare providers to prioritize a proactive, patient-centered approach to well-being. By focusing on personalized care, health education, and self-empowerment, these resources support OPCC&CT's goal of transforming the VA healthcare system into one that equips Veterans with tools and knowledge to achieve their full potential for health and wellness.

Whole Health Brand Refresh

The Whole Health branding guidelines provide a comprehensive framework for maintaining a cohesive and evolving brand identity. They include mark usage standards, typefaces, imagery suggestions, and marketing samples. To support OPCC&CT's outreach efforts, downloadable templates such as posters, social media graphics, trade show banners, digital signage, and fact sheets were also developed, ensuring consistent and impactful communication across all materials.

Office of Rural Health

The Office of Rural Health (ORH) supports nearly five million Veterans in rural communities by promoting innovative care models, conducting targeted research, and developing policies and programs to improve access to quality healthcare. Through creative direction and design, ORH’s communication materials, including annual reports, social media assets, infographics, and a comprehensive fact sheet library, effectively convey their mission and impact.

Annual Reports

The below highlights multiple years of their highly designed ORH annual reports, showcasing the beauty of rural spaces and the resilience of their communities through stunning visuals and captivating imagery. Each report reflects a tailored design concept, chosen collaboratively to best represent ORH’s commitment to breaking down barriers to care for rural Veterans.

Office of Nursing Services

Annual Reports

The Office of Nursing Services (ONS) annual report is a flagship project that highlights the invaluable contributions of VA nurses across the United States. This award-winning report, recognized with two Hermes Gold Awards, stands out for its rich storytelling, featuring real images of VA nurses rather than stock photography, which adds authenticity and impact.

Producing this report is a complex endeavor, given the volume of information, the inclusion of stories from VA hospitals and facilities nationwide, and the coordination with multiple stakeholders to ensure every detail is accurate and aligned. In addition to the annual report, ONS is supported with engaging social media campaigns for Nurses Month and Nurses Week, further celebrating and amplifying the voices of VA nurses.

The result is a visually compelling and informative suite of resources that honors the dedication of VA nurses while serving as valuable tools for the nursing community and leadership.
